About Health Atlas

Last updated September 20, 2026

Health Atlas is an independent editorial publisher covering everyday wellness for women in midlife — roughly the years between 40 and 60, when sleep, energy, strength, mood and body composition often start behaving differently than they used to.

We exist because that stage of life generates a lot of questions and an unusual amount of bad information. Search for almost any midlife health topic and the results are dominated by pages built to sell a supplement, with the actual evidence buried, hedged, or missing entirely. We write the page we wanted to find instead: what the research actually shows, where it is weak, what it does not answer, and which questions are worth bringing to a clinician.

What we publish

Three kinds of pages, and nothing else:

  • Evidence explainers. Plain-language walkthroughs of a specific question — which magnesium form has sleep research behind it, what creatine studies in postmenopausal women actually measured, whether oral collagen reaches skin. Each one states the strength of the evidence, not just the conclusion.
  • Practical tools. Free calculators and printable checklists — BMI, daily energy needs, protein targets, symptom trackers to bring to an appointment. No sign-up, no email wall, no upsell.
  • Context pieces. Where a common health metric came from, why a guideline says what it says, what a label does and does not tell you.

How we work

Every article follows the same internal process, and it is deliberately slow:

  • Sources are ranked. For health claims we work from primary and institutional sources — peer-reviewed research, clinical guidelines, regulatory bodies and public health agencies — in that order. A manufacturer’s own claim is never treated as a finding; when we mention one, we attribute it to the manufacturer in the sentence itself.
  • Every number is checked at the source. Dosages, percentages, dates, study sizes and prices are verified against the original document, not against another article that cited it. We keep an internal ledger for each piece recording where each factual claim came from and when it was verified.
  • Uncertainty stays visible. When the evidence is mixed, thin, or based on small or short studies, the article says so. If we cannot verify something relevant, we flag the gap rather than filling it with a plausible guess.
  • Review before publishing. Each piece is checked for accuracy, safety language, source quality, accessibility and internal consistency before it goes live. Corrections and updates are dated.

What we will not do

These are firm limits, not aspirations:

  • We do not diagnose, prescribe, or tell you to start or stop a medication or supplement.
  • We do not promise cures, prevention, guaranteed results, or timelines.
  • We do not invent personal experience, testimonials, lab testing, or credentials we do not have, and we do not present ourselves as physicians.
  • We do not use manufactured fear, countdown timers, fake scarcity, or invented consequences to push a click.

Who writes this

Articles are researched and written by the Health Atlas editorial team and published under that byline. We are writers and researchers, not clinicians, and we say so plainly on every page rather than implying medical authority we do not hold. Our role is to find the evidence, read the primary sources carefully, and present them honestly — including the parts that undercut a tidy conclusion.

This is why our articles consistently point toward a conversation with a qualified professional instead of away from one. A page that sends you to your doctor better informed has done its job, whether or not you buy anything.

How the site is funded

Health Atlas is supported by advertising and by affiliate commissions. If you buy something through a link on this site, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Where that applies, it is disclosed on the page, before the first commercial link — not in fine print at the bottom.

Funding does not decide our conclusions. We publish negative and inconclusive findings about product categories we could otherwise earn from, and we drop claims we cannot support rather than softening them with careful wording. Full terms are in our affiliate disclosure and editorial standards.

Corrections

If you find an error — a misread study, an outdated guideline, a number that does not match its source — tell us at support@health-atlas.site. We correct factual errors and date the change on the page. Guidance in health moves, and a page that was accurate in 2024 may not be accurate now; we revisit published articles when the underlying sources change.

Medical disclaimer

Everything on Health Atlas is general educational information. It is not medical advice and is not a substitute for care from a qualified professional who knows your history. Never delay seeking medical advice because of something you read here. See our full medical disclaimer.
